Floresteca established the Floresteca Timber Industries in 2006, aiming at using its young teak trees (resulting from early thin-outs of its plantations) to supply the market in a short term with quality certified teak wood products.
Floresteca Timber Industries is confident that the combination of teak’s unique qualities (medium density, golden color, stability, weather and insects resistance) with modern industrial techniques will result in a high quality product, thus creating its own new market.
Combining a recent launched technology (thermo wood) with young teak from early thin-outs, Floresteca Timber Industries is bringing ThermoTeak to the world market. Through this unique system of high temperature treatment in special stainless steel chambers, the sapwood of young teak is not only modified in colour (the whitish tone of the sap changes into a golden one) but has its structure modified as well.
ThermoTeak is a formidable step towards using up to 12 year old well managed plantations, whose thinned trees have usually more than 50% of its volume in sapwood. Research conducted in several European countries indicates that thermo wood hardness increases in up to 30%, while the product becomes more resistant to fungus and insects. Besides that, ThermoTeak is obtained through a clean industrial process, which does not bring any environmental damages or pollution.
Floresteca Timber Industries, engaged in producing certified products friendly to the environment, purchases raw material exclusively from FSC certified sources. Having being granted the Chain of Custody by FSC, all its semi-finished and finished products are certified for further processing and consumer markets.
